DOGMA // ISSUE 10

Publishing September, available via season subscription, Issue 10 of Dogma celebrates our participation in the Europa League with a beautiful Albion Kutte cover illustration by the peerless Gullski. Kuttes (‘cut-offs’) are popular matchday garments in German football culture, and ours is based on a truism we very much subscribe to at Dogma when it comes to following the Albion: sometimes the journey is just as exciting as the destination.

Issue 10 also features an extremely special piece of narrative artwork from Slink – We’ve Come a Long, Long Way Together, which depicts the key moments, cultural and sporting, from our recent history. In the artist’s own words; ‘With a head brimming with incredible memories from the last 14 years, I felt an irresistible urge to channel these experiences’.

The ‘Summer Series’ presented an opportunity to examine the culture of the Albion’s growing fanbase in North America, with articles from US-based Seagulls Max Winchester, TogetherBHA’s Craig Woolven, plus artwork from Noah Lennon (Dogma debutants one and all).

Sam Swaffield (one of the former editors of long-running Albion ‘zine TSLR) asks BHAFC historian Tim Carder to reflect on Albion’s war years and share his personal perspectives from this tumultuous period – the emotional, as well as the factual.

Jack Albion proves the adage that football is nothing without cans, JBD takes a look at a recent IFO report on the club’s treatment of one of its own fans, and we profile Mo Dahoud and assess his likely impact in the stripes. Cain Blissett comes clean on his obsession (which begins with BHA and ends with FC) and Dogma’s Rich takes a deep dive into the Saudi Pro League (yuck) and the potential impact of this initiative on Brighton’s ability to compete for silverware and European football.

What else? Lee Everyday IPA dreams about the devil kicking the Gold Stone from the Dyke to Hove Park, Kay Hutt shares her love of arriving at the Amex hours before kick-off and Ed Woodhouse introduces a brand-new face on the scene at Falmer: expert sports journo and professional squasher of transfer title-tattle Andy Moore.

Plus loads more, including submissions from Mess, Jason Therios and artwork from (amongst others) Alfie Bacon and Dogma’s Iain Budgen.

Secure your copy of Dogma Issue 10 via a 23/24 season subscription (you’ll get Issue 10, plus Issues 11 and 12, delivered directly to your front door), available right here.
